God & Gun Loving Rep. James Lankford of Oklahoma Right on Issue of Debt - He's RIght About Children Being Overmedicated - On Gun Issues He Needs to Tone Down Rhetoric - He Loses Credibility With Moderates With The Ardent NRA Way or the Highway

"Things are not happening in Washington DC...."  Rep. James Lankford (R) OK

James Lankford held a call with bloggers about the No Budget No Pay Act.  One that seems like a "no brainer" if most people don't do their jobs they don't get paid. Pilots are paid to fly planes, Doctors are paid to see patients - Why has congress been allowed to get away with not doing  their job?

Don't they have annual reviews like others in management?  Wait I can answer my own question that they do have a review they run for re-election.

James Lankford on the call was impressive on the fiscal issues that matter to "this" Voice of a Moderate:

James Paul Lankford (born March 4, 1968) is the U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 5th congressional district.[2] He is a member of the Republican Party. He is Oklahoma's first congressional representative with red hair.

"In his remarks on Saturday, Lankford portrayed debt as a danger facing the nation.
“Federal overspending that was intended to lift us up as a nation is actually dragging our families down,’’ he said. “Certainly, on the weekend we commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we must renew the dream for our children's future.
“As we tackle our nation’s enormous debt, halt our out-of-control deficit spending, and address the cultural shifts in our country’s character, let us pursue a better legacy for the next generation.”..."

Congressman Lankford --- Fiscally is my kind-of guy.......oops

Then I did Google: He's a God & Gun Texan.

Then I remembered "why" my impression of him was that of a right wing whacko who was in bed with the NRA... I then read about comments attacking 'Welfare Moms' then with an OPEN MIND - I looked at his "rational" an that was that children "are " overmedicated ... He had some "valid" points still most "not born in Texas" women would immediately tune him out.

House Republican Leader Blames Gun Violence On 'Welfare Moms ...

Rep. James Lankford (R-OK), the fifth-ranking House Republican, laid the blame for gun violence at the feet of an unusual suspect: the children ...

The fact is the gun problem in America is about LOTS of issues and mental health is a BIG factor.  Women want BACKGROUND Checks.  Verify "what" prescriptions people are on BEFORE letting them take an assault rifle home.  The founders of our great country created a "living" document that would develop like us as intellectual human beings.  They did not know "what" Pfizer was but they knew to have a FREE MARKET country the people need the freedom to change and so do the laws.

Laws are created to provide a safe and peaceful existence to members of society. After hearing how "sensible" Rep. Lankford was on the conference all this morning I believe that quality legislation will pass that will protect the 2nd Amendment and protect the safety of our children.

Obama looks heroic to some for fighting the "evil" NRA is playing well with the Latino community.  Win or Lose the democrats have "politically won"  it's time to tell the NRA to take a "time out" and let America grieve without having to listen to their rhetoric that less than 30% of the population agree with.

The Hispanic community has seen too much gun violence - many want LESS guns guns and more background checks... Oddly they don't want Voter ID laws.  Well that's debatable.  Some say if I need a license to get a prescription or a beer why not to vote?  The issue is HOW they are asked for the ID's the way it's presented by the GOP seems "calculated" and people from Latin America tend not to trust America.

But there are unmistakable signals that House Republicans are already looking to punt the issue to the Senate, knowing that Reid is unlikely to force a vote there on a wide-ranging bill....."Vice President Biden is taking the lead on that as president of the Senate, and naturally it should go to the Senate first," said Rep. James Lankford (R-Okla.), a member of the House GOP leadership. "That's the relationship between Reid and Biden. Let them take it in the Senate, and then we'll take up what they pass out of the Senate and we'll look from there."   Lankford said he was having internal conversations about what Republicans should support, with most of the talk focusing on mental health issues......

.....Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.), whose panel has wide-ranging jurisdiction, said he would take up the mental health issue in the weeks ahead and pointed to a press release his committee issued Monday night.
"The string of attacks in Newtown, Aurora, Tucson, and at Virginia Tech force us to ask what we can do as a nation to care for and treat those who suffer from mental illnesses," Upton said, adding: "We must seek to gain a better understanding of societal factors, potential causes, and their overall impact upon outbreaks of violence.
